Tesla battery short-circuits, 4 people evaluated as Cary home fills with ‘heavy smoke,’ officials say

CARY, N.C. (WNCN) – People in a Cary home were checked for smoke inhalation after a Tesla battery short-circuited while charging Saturday afternoon, officials said. The incident was reported as a fire just after 2:30 p.m. at 100 Forest Run Place, which is in the Winchester Woods neighborhood near the corner of Penny Road and Kildaire Farm Road, according to town of Cary officials.
