Wisconsin, Duke make big leaps in Top 25 poll

The top five remain unchanged while No. 6 Wisconsin and No. 7 Duke made big jumps in the Associated Press Top 25 men’s basketball poll released Monday.

UConn (18-2) remained No. 1, with 48 first-place votes. Purdue (19-2) held on to No. 2 with 14 votes, followed by North Carolina (17-3), Houston (18-2) and Tennessee (15-4). The Cougars received the other first-place vote.

Wisconsin (16-4) rose seven spots after beating Minnesota and Michigan State and holds sole possession of first place in the Big Ten entering Monday’s action, though with one fewer game played than Purdue. The Badgers and Boilermakers meet Sunday in Madison, Wis.

Duke (15-4) moved up five places following victories against Louisville and Clemson.

Kansas (16-4), Marquette (15-5) and Kentucky (15-4) round out the top 10.

Iowa State was the week’s biggest mover after Saturday’s 79-75 win over Kansas. The Cyclones vaulted 11 spots to No. 12.

Oklahoma dropped 12 spots to No. 23 after losses to Texas and Texas Tech.

Alabama and TCU earned their way back into the poll, at Nos. 24 and 25, respectively, bumping out Memphis and Colorado State.
