RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Concealed carry instruction — it’s a topic that’s caused a lot of controversy, such as whether to require students to purchase a so-called “red book.”
The North Carolina Rules Review Commission held a meeting Wednesday at the State Office of Administrative Hearings where they decided not to take action on changes to the rules to the training process to receive a permit to conceal carry a handgun.
The book breaks down what people need to know when going through the training process, including where you can and cannot carry in the state.
Possible changes on the way for concealed carry instruction in North Carolina
Stephen Xavier with the North Carolina Concealed Carry Instructors Association (NCCCIA) says it’s frustrating.
“I think it’s time to just sit down and have the discussion and get the issue on the Red Book handled and just get it resolved and move forward,” said Xavier.
The NCCCIA says their biggest concern is about the added costs for both instructors and students, not to mention the language in the book.
