Kinston charter school ordered to repay $162,595; charter renewal in jeopardy

RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) – A troubled Eastern Carolina charter school is being ordered to pay back tens of thousands of dollars that the state says it spent inappropriately. The state Department of Public Instruction says Children’s Village Academy in Kinston must repay $162,595.91 to the U.S. Department of Education through DPI “out of local funds.”
