A North Carolina man arrested and charged after allegedly breaking into vehicles

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ – Jonathan Chavez, 30, of Raleigh, North Carolina, was arrested on February 7th by Berkeley Heights Police Detectives and charged with credit card theft, fraudulent use of credit cards, theft by deception, and theft.

On February 5th, Berkeley Heights Police received a report from Lifetime Fitness that an unlocked vehicle had been entered and property, including credit cards, had been removed from the interior.

Captain William Ives stated that following an investigation in partnership with the Bridgewater Police Department, Chaves was identified, arrested, and charged today. Chavez was processed at Berkeley Heights Police headquarters and lodged in the County Jail pending a mandatory court appearance.
