The Wake County Animal Center in Raleigh is starting a Valentine’s adoption campaign on February 10. This campaign offers reduced adoption fees until February 16. Dogs aged six months and older can be adopted for $25, and cats for $5. Susan Evan, vice chair of the Wake County Board of Commissioners, stated this initiative provides a chance for people to adopt a new pet.
The Center currently houses 86 dogs, three puppies, 20 cats, and one kitten. Additionally, 30 pets are in foster care and available for adoption. The Center, nearing its 140 pet capacity, is encouraging community members to adopt.
Staff at the Center will help potential adopters understand each pet’s unique personality to ensure a good fit. All pets are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated before adoption. Adopters can share their experiences on social media with the hashtag #AdoptLove.
The Center also offers gift certificates for pet adoption, valid for a year from purchase. This could be a suitable Valentine’s gift for animal lovers. Donations are also accepted to help the Center rehome the animals.
