North Carolina men found guilty for their involvement in Jan. 6 Capitol riot

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Two Wake County men were found guilty of charges related to their actions on Jan. 6, 2021.

Christopher Carnell and David Worth Bowman were found guilty on six different charges in connection to the riot at the U.S. Capitol. They are scheduled to be sentenced in June.

They were charged with attempting to obstruct Congress’s certification of the Electoral College vote, entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, entering and remaining on the floor of Congress, disorderly conduct in a Capitol building and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building.

According to federal court documents, Bowman and Carnell can be seen on surveillance video, from Jan. 6, 2021, illegally entering the Senate floor at 2:49 p.m. The two appeared to be traveling together and could be seen rifling through papers on senators’ desks, according to the release.
