LILLINGTON, N.C. (WNCN) — A grandmother died and her grandchild is still hospitalized following a Harnett County head-on crash that also killed a Johnston County man early Saturday, officials say.
The crash was reported just before 5:20 a.m. Saturday along U.S. 421 near Joe Collins Road, about 4 miles west of Lillington, according to Sgt. N.M. Oxendine of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened as the driver of a white 2016 Ford Mustang was heading east and a silver 2006 Honda Odyssey minivan was being driven west, Oxendine said.
The driver of the Ford Mustang, Kysheem Dayshawn Green of Benson, crossed the centerline of the highway and collided with the Honda minivan, according to Oxendine.
Elsa Vasquez, 71, of Angier, who was driving the minivan died. Her grandson, 11, was also in the minivan and was seriously injured, Oxendine said. The boy is being treated at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, Oxendine told CBS 17.
