RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — March Madness is ramping up again after a quick breather between the first weekend and the Sweet Sixteen.
And with representation from three different schools in our area, local fans are hyped for the action. CBS 17 was on the tarmac as two of the Triangle’s five teams took flight for the next round on Tuesday.
It was wheels up for both UNC men’s and NC State women’s basketball with fans like Bryan Stockdale cheering their teams on.
“There’s nothing like March Madness,” Stockdale said. “You live for March Madness if you like basketball.”
“I just love the unpredictability,” another fan said.
Headed across the country, the women Wolfpack and Tar Heels men’s squads are still in the tournament, along with NC State men’s team and both the men and women’s teams from Duke. It’s causing a clash between fans across the area ahead of the Sweet 16.

“One neighbor is an NC State fan,” Triangle basketball fan Steve Distefano said. “Another neighbor is a UNC fan, and then we even have a few Duke fans in our neighborhood. It’s fun to see everybody come out and celebrate their team and root for them.”
