BENSON — The Police Department is accepting applications for its second Citizen’s Police Academy.
The academy aims to increase understanding between citizens and police through education.
“Our inaugural session in early 2024 was well received, and we learned a great deal from the participants too,” said Benson Police Chief Greg Percy. “We are looking forward to our 2025 session, and we are excited to share who we are, what we do, and the why’s and how’s of policing in Benson to a new group.”
The winter academy will start on Jan. 13 and meet from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays for six weeks. Topics will include community policing, criminal investigations, traffic enforcement and active shooter response.
The deadline to apply is Jan. 3. The application is online at bit.ly/3ZEYyqK .
