NCWC asking anglers to stop spreading Alabama bass to new waters

RALEIGH, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – The North Carolina Wildlife Commission (NCWC) is asking for the public’s help to stop spreading the Alabama bass to new waters in the state.

Officials said the Alabama bass readily interbreed with smallmouth and spotted bass, which overtime can eliminate smallmouth and spotted bass from the fish community.

According to the NCWC, it often outcompete and replace native largemouth bass, causing the bass population of a waterbody to be dominated by high numbers of the Alabama bass…
