2 hospitalized, dog dead in a massive house fire in North Carolina, officials say

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A home has been devastated after a house fire killed a dog and hospitalized two people early Thursday morning, according to the Durham Fire Department.

A spokesperson with the department said firefighters responded to the call of a structure fire around 3:45 a.m. at the 500 block of Craven Street in Durham. Upon arrival, crews said they saw fire and smoke coming out of the back of a home.

Crews said neighbors alerted them to the fact that three occupants of the home were inside the blazing house and possibly needed to be rescued. One was able to exit on their own, one had to be carried out from their bed, and the third had to be removed from the home through a window…
