NC School of the Arts alum receives 10th Tony Award nomination

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A University of North Carolina School of the Arts graduate, Paul Tazewell, has been nominated for his 10th Tony Award for costume design. Thursday morning’s nomination is for Tazewell’s work in the Broadway musical “Death Becomes Her.”

Tazewell previously won the Tony for his designs in the smash musical hit Hamilton. Previous Tony nominations also include “Bring in ‘da Noise, Bring in ‘da Funk,” The Color Purple,” “In the Heights,” “Memphis,” “A Streetcar Named Desire,” “Ain’t Too Proud,” “MJ The Musical,” and “Suffs.”

It’s a big year for Tazewell, both on stage and on screen. He recently won the Academy Award for costume design for the film “Wicked.”…
