A 53-year-old man was shot and killed by an N.C. state trooper after leading authorities on a chase, officials said. He ran from a traffic stop when the officer found out the man had multiple active arrest warrants, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
At about 9:45 a.m., a State Highway Patrol member stopped Philip Aiken Brown of Creedmoor on I-85 South near mile marker 185 in Durham County, when the trooper noticed Brown’s pickup truck didn’t have a registration plate, according to Sgt. Chris Knox with Highway Patrol.

After catching a break in the rain late Friday morning, storms will start developing in the afternoon as temperatures are peaking in the upper 70s to lower 80s.
