Amtrak adjusts Carolinian, Piedmont routes amid NC flooding

NORTH CAROLINA, USA — Due to significant flooding across parts of North Carolina, Amtrak has announced temporary service adjustments impacting its Carolinian and Piedmont lines through at least Tuesday, July 8, Amtrak officials confirmed.

On Monday, the Carolinian Line will operate with the following changes:

  • Train 80 will originate in Raleigh instead of Charlotte. No substitute transportation will be provided between the two cities.
  • Train 79 will terminate in Raleigh, with bus service available between Raleigh and Charlotte.

The Piedmont Line will also see widespread disruptions.

  • Train 71 is canceled with no alternate transportation available.
  • Trains 73, 75, and 77 are canceled between Raleigh and Greensboro, but bus service will be provided.
  • Trains 72, 74, 76, and 78 are canceled between Greensboro and Raleigh, with bus service available for affected passengers.

Looking ahead to Tuesday, Carolinian Train 80 will again originate in Raleigh, with no substitute transportation available between Raleigh and Charlotte.
