Holly Springs, NC, Jul. 15, 2025 — The long-anticipated Wegmans supermarket in Holly Springs has taken a crucial procedural step toward becoming a reality, as the company has requested its fourth and final extension to keep its development plan active.
During Tuesday evening’s Town Council meeting, members approved Wegmans’ request to extend the expiration date of its development plan from August 15, 2025, to February 15, 2026. This marks the last allowable 6-month extension for the project under town regulations.
The planned store, set to be built south of Ralph Stephens Road on Wildwood Farm Way, has been on hold since it was first approved in 2019 alongside a neighboring Lowe’s Home Improvement store. While Lowe’s opened in 2022, Wegmans has yet to begin construction.
According to documents submitted with the extension request, Wegmans now anticipates breaking ground in mid-to-late 2026. To keep the project moving, the company must submit civil construction drawings to the town by the new February deadline and remain actively engaged in the review process…
