Raleigh Joins Forces with Tuskegee Airmen Chapter to Launch 2025 Youth Aviation Academy

The city of Raleigh and the Heart of Carolina Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen are joining forces to launch an innovative program aimed at young people with an interest in aviation. The 2025 Youth Aviation Academy, a free initiative announced yesterday on the City of Raleigh’s website, is set to offer listeners aged 9 to 16 a unique opportunity to explore the rich heritage of the Tuskegee Airmen and to discover the myriad of careers available in the field of aviation and aeronautics.

The program consists of five separate sessions scheduled to take place starting in September. Participants will get to actively immerse themselves in various aspects of aviation, from learning about its rich history to engaging directly with the technology that powers flight today. The first session will focus on the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen and features an aviation career panel, along with light breakfast refreshments.

A notable session includes a field trip to the NCDOT Aviation Hangar at RDU Airport, providing students a firsthand look at the mechanics behind aviation operations. The penultimate session will promise to virtually transport participants into the pilot’s seat through a flight simulator experience complemented with virtual reality tech, not to forget the side of aviation trivia to help consolidate knowledge…
