Raleigh Police Encourage Community Bonding Through National Night Out Porch Lighting Initiative

On the first Tuesday of August each year, porch lights are turned on across Raleigh as part of the National Night Out event, supported by the Raleigh Police Department (RPD). The initiative is designed to promote community engagement and strengthen relationships between residents and law enforcement. According to the City of Raleigh, the event has been observed nationally since 1984 and aims to encourage neighborhood cooperation and awareness.
