Raleigh’s Active Adult Program is introducing a new historical tour titled “Becoming Lunsford Lane.” This program invites participants to explore the life of Lunsford Lane, a man who overcame slavery and dedicated himself to securing freedom for his family. The tour offers a unique opportunity to follow Lane’s journey, led by historian and Becoming Lunsford Lane author Craig Thompson Friend, according to the City of Raleigh.
The itinerary for this educational tour includes visits to key landmarks connected to Lunsford Lane’s life, including the Joel Lane Museum House and the North Carolina State Capitol. The announcement encourages those interested to take part in learning about Lane’s significant role in the pursuit of freedom.
The trip departs from the Anne Gordon Active Adult Center and is currently open for registration. The cost is $25 for residents and $40 for non-residents.
