North Carolina’s Joint Reentry Council to Strategize on Offender Rehabilitation in Raleigh Meeting

The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) has announced that the state’s Joint Reentry Council is set to convene for its regular bi-monthly meeting, aiming to refine strategies for effectively rehabilitating offenders reentering society. This important discussion is scheduled to take place Thursday, July 24, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Greg Poole, Jr. All Faiths Chapel in beautiful Dorothea Dix Park, Raleigh, as detailed in a media advisory published by the NCDAC.

The agenda includes a warm welcome and introductory remarks by Leslie Cooley Dismukes, NCDAC Secretary. Following that, Deputy Secretary George Pettigrew will provide updates on strategic planning and introduce a dashboard presentation. Then, a housing system assessment focusing on post-incarceration reentry in North Carolina will be shared by Megan Pfeiffer, Reentry 2030 Project Manager of The Council of State Governments Justice Center, and her colleague, Thomas Coyne.

Later, attendees will hear from Melissa W. Radcliff, Program Director at Our Children’s Place of Coastal Horizons, who will address challenges specific to the children of those transitioning back into civilian life after being behind bars.
