Ayden man pleads guilty in Carteret County double fatal crash

CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – An Ayden man will spend at least five years in prison for killing two people in a vehicle crash just over a year ago.

Steven Shelton pleaded guilty to two counts of felony death by motor vehicle and driving while impaired before a Carteret County judge today.

The crash happened on June 30, 2024, on Highway 58 near Old Church Road in Carteret County.
