Police are on the hunt for a suspect following a shooting that occurred south of downtown Raleigh yesterday. The incident where a man was shot after refusing to give a stranger a ride shook the local community. According to CBS 17, the confrontation took place around 2:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Keeter Center Drive while the victim was in his vehicle.
Upon refusing the ride, the suspect brandished a handgun leading to a scuffle, during which the man sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach, as detailed by ABC11. After being shot, the victim, who was seriously injured but not with life-threatening wounds, managed to find assistance at Oak City Cares, a nearby establishment located in the 1400 block of South Wilmington Street.
Authorities have yet to reveal the identities of those involved in the altercation. The injured man, after the shooting, navigated to Oak City Cares where he was then transported to WakeMed for treatment.
