Speed a factor in crash that killed 17-year-old driver, injured 2 teens in North Carolina

WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WNCN) — A Wake Forest teen died and two others were injured in a crash in northern Wake County early Saturday morning, officials said.

The single-car crash was reported around 5 a.m. Saturday along Chalk Road near Hidden Nook Lane, just outside Wake Forest, according to a news release from North Carolina State Highway Patrol Sgt. Marcus Bethea.

The wreck happened when the 17-year-old driver of a black Kia car was north on Chalk Road, crossed the center line, ran off the road to the left and struck a ditch, the news release said.
