Whataburger Expands Triangle Presence with New Wake Forest Location

The popular Texas burger chain Whataburger is growing its footprint in North Carolina’s Triangle region. After opening its first state location earlier this year in Gastonia, Whataburger is now planning several restaurants in the Raleigh area.

Two new Whataburger sites are in development in Raleigh, located at 6305 Falls Of Neuse Road and 501 E. Six Forks Road. In addition, a third location is planned for Wake Forest. This site will feature a 3,305-square-foot standalone restaurant within the Grove 98 development. The Wake Forest Board of Commissioners approved a special use permit last September, allowing Whataburger to build a double drive-thru at this location. The new restaurant will sit on a 1.2-acre plot between a Sleep Number mattress store and Grove 98 apartments, near Highway 98 across from Wegmans.

The Triangle Business Journal first reported the Wake Forest plans. Whataburger’s expansion in the area reflects strong demand, partly driven by Texas transplants who crave the chain’s signature offerings.
