Raleigh authorities have apprehended a man linked to a recent string of bank robberies in the area, including an incident at a Truist Bank located on Oberlin Road, and a separate event at the State Employees Credit Union in Angier. Nicholas Paul McLeod, 28, was arrested in Vance County on Thursday, according to WRAL.
McLeod faces charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon and second-degree kidnapping following his alleged involvement in the crimes. During the Truist Bank incident, occurring just after 11:45 a.m., McLeod reportedly handed a bank employee a note instructing not to trigger any alarms and threatening the use of a gun. ABC11 notes that the note read, “not make sound, I have a gun … put all the 50’s and 100’s in an envelope… if you use dye pack will turn around and shoot you.”
He successfully left the Truist Bank with $2,050 in cash before fleeing the scene in his vehicle. The Raleigh Police Department detailed that the suspect, McLeod, was later apprehended by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
