Raleigh Police Department Champions Community Engagement with National Night Out Tomorrow

The Raleigh Police Department is inviting community members to participate in this year’s National Night Out, set for tomorrow. In a symbolic gesture to promote vigilance and solidarity among neighbors, residents are asked to leave their porch lights on from 7 to 10 p.m. The initiative aims to strengthen community ties and enhance the relationship between neighborhoods and law enforcement.

Residents are not only encouraged to light up their porches but also to actively engage with their community by attending and hosting local events. “We also encourage you to come out to National Night Out events and get to know your neighbors better!” stated a recent post from the Raleigh Police Department on their Facebook page. To further foster community-police relations, Raleigh neighborhoods hosting events have the opportunity to request a visit from an officer by emailing [email protected].

National Night Out events are designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for local anti-crime programs, and to simply send a message that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back against crime.
