The Raleigh Police Department is seeking applicants for a unique chance to peek behind the badge, as they open up spots for the fall 2025 Raleigh Community Police Academy. Citizens looking to get a firsthand look at local law enforcement operations and community rapport can now sign up for this immersive free course. According to a statement from the Raleigh Police Department, the nine-week program is set to illuminate various key aspects of police work for residents and local workers 21 years and older.
Set to run from Oct. 2 through Dec. 4, the academy includes eight Thursday evening sessions, leading up to a graduation event for participants and, the program’s diverse curriculum ranges from constitutional law, crime analytics to interactive experiences like a firearms simulator and K-9 demonstrations, enforcing a more nuanced understanding of law enforcement among attendees. Notably, there’s even an opportunity to engage in a patrol officer ride-along, providing a slice of life on duty.
