UNC Wilmington student killed by train in Clayton. What police say happened.

A college student from Wendell was killed in an accident with a train in Clayton, police said Wednesday.

EllaRyan Marie Miller, 21, died Tuesday evening after stepping in front of an Amtrak train, according to a news release from Clayton Police Chief Greg Tart.

Miller, a UNC Wilmington student, was doing a summer internship in downtown Clayton, the release said. She was leaving her job around 5 p.m. and walking to her car, parked in a nearby lot on Front Street, when she crossed the railroad tracks on foot and was struck by the train…
