Former North Carolina town commissioner turns herself in on 4 embezzlement charges

WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WNCN) — A well-known figure in Wake Forest surrendered herself at the Wake County Detention Center on Thursday where she was arrested on embezzlement charges.

CBS 17 was there when Liz Simpers, 49, walked inside without an attorney to do so around 4:30 p.m. — marking a turning point in what police said has been a 13-month investigation.
