CLAYTON — A development firm proposes to plant a 40-foot landscape buffer between its shopping center on Clayton Boulevard and neighboring single-family homes.
But those neighbors told the Clayton Planning Board on July 28 that a previous Town Council had promised them a 125-foot “no development” buffer along their homes on Lightfoot Drive.
“That buffer isn’t just a line on a map,” said homeowner Daniel Shaw. “It’s a symbol of long-term planning, promises made to the people who live here. Reducing that separation to just 40 feet now without broad consensus and due diligence threatens to undo that trust and could very well damage our property values and our way life.”…
