Deadly Raleigh Hotel Shooting Ruled Self-Defense; No Charges Filed

RALEIGH, NC — A shooting at a Raleigh hotel that left one man dead has been ruled an act of self-defense, police confirmed Thursday. The incident occurred late Wednesday night at the Days Inn on Glenwood Avenue and involved a confrontation between the victim and a hotel employee.

Victim Identified

The Raleigh Police Department has identified the deceased as Byron Bracey, 35. Bracey was transported to a nearby hospital after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, but later succumbed to his injuries in the early morning hours of August 14.
