Man killed by train after driving past railroad crossing in North Carolina

CLAYTON, N.C. (WNCN) – A driver is dead after a cargo train collided with his car in Clayton Monday morning, police said.

According to the Clayton Police Department, the incident occurred around 10:50 a.m. at the intersection of Central Street and Main Street.

The driver, identified as 62-year-old Dwayne Alton Bryant of Clayton, turned left onto Central Street from East Main Street and “attempted to pass around the crossing arms which were down in both directions with lights flashing” at the time of the crash, police said…
