High-Speed Chase through Wake County Ends in Reservoir Crash; Car Submerged

Wake Forest, NC – A late-night police chase ended dramatically Monday when a driver crashed his vehicle into the Wake Forest Reservoir, prompting a rescue response and an ongoing investigation.

High-Speed Pursuit Begins Near Wendell

Deputies with the Wake County Sheriff’s Office said the pursuit began around 8:25 p.m. near Edgemont and Hodge roads, just outside Wendell. The driver refused to stop, leading officers on a chase that continued through northeast Wake County.

The chase escalated until the suspect lost control of the vehicle near Wait Avenue and Traditions Grande Boulevard in Wake Forest. The car veered off the road and plunged into the reservoir.

Driver Hospitalized after Reservoir Crash

Rescue teams responded quickly to the scene, and the driver was transported to a nearby hospital as a precaution. Officials have not yet released the driver’s identity or medical condition.

The vehicle remained submerged overnight in the reservoir. Law enforcement and emergency personnel indicated they would resume recovery efforts on Tuesday, as it was too difficult to retrieve the car in the dark.
