The North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh has begun a major renovation project that will expand the facility by 40,000 square feet. The project will add new gallery space, classrooms, a restaurant, community gathering areas, and offices.
According to the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, as part of the renovation, the museum’s main entrance will move to Bicentennial Plaza to improve accessibility. Upgrades will also include new climate control systems for artifact preservation, infrastructure repairs such as leak fixes, and the installation of a new freight elevator.
