Raleigh group helping next generation of disability rights leaders

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Transitioning to independence can be a challenge for young people with disabilities, but a local nonprofit is working to change that.

Founded in 2019, Youth LEAD NC is a grassroots organization dedicated to empowering the next generation of disability rights leaders in North Carolina. The LEAD in their name, stands for Leadership, Empowerment, Advocacy, and Disability.

Led entirely by and for young people with disabilities, the organization serves individuals ages 30 and under. It provides crucial peer support, leadership training, and life skills to foster self-advocacy, independence, and community engagement.
