CLAYTON — A Johnston County man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after leading deputies on a high-speed chase that covered multiple highways but ended safely without injuries.
The incident began on Veterans Parkway (formerly NC 42 West) near the I-40 interchange, where a deputy noticed a gray Honda Accord driving recklessly and weaving through traffic. When the deputy activated his lights to stop the car, the driver briefly pulled over but then suddenly sped away.
The chase continued along I-40, I-42, Government Road, and back onto Veterans Parkway. During the pursuit, the gray Honda sideswiped a white Honda on I-42, but fortunately, no one was hurt.
The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Dandre Orlando Lorden of Cheerful Court in Garner, was eventually stopped and taken into custody. He faces numerous charges including felony fleeing to elude arrest, reckless driving, possession of controlled substances and marijuana, driving with a revoked license, hit and run, speeding, and driving without insurance or registration.
