Motorcyclist injured after 100+ mph I-40 chase ends in Johnston County crash; woman in minivan also hurt, troopers say

FOUR OAKS, N.C. (WNCN) — A Johnston County motorcyclist will face a felony charge when he leaves the hospital following a 100+ mph chase and crash Sunday afternoon, officials said.

The incident was reported just after 2 p.m. when a motorcyclist on Interstate 40 west was clocked at 99 mph in a 70 mph zone at mile marker 331, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol Sgt. J.C. Freeman.

The man on the Triumph motorcycle took off after a trooper tried to stop him for speeding, officials said. The chase continued west on I-40 for about 10 miles, exceeding speeds of 100 mph, Freeman said…
