ARCHER LODGE — A Johnston County landmark has earned national recognition.
Archer Lodge Express, a nearly century-old community gas station, was ranked among the best independent gas stations in America in a recent survey of more than 3,000 drivers.
The station was once known as the C.E. Barnes Store, a longtime hub for residents. New owners have maintained its spirit, keeping it a gathering spot as well as a fuel stop.
