Inspectors have their say before food vendors get cooking at N.C. State Fair

Whether you have a sweet tooth or a hankering for something greasy, inspectors from Wake County and the state Department of Health and Human Services ensure that happens safely at the 173rd North Carolina State Fair.

“Our job is to make sure everyone is successful,” said Ginger Johnson, the environmental consultant for event permitting on behalf of Wake County Health & Human Services. “We come back out through the entire event up until the last night when everything shuts down. Somebody is doing those spot checks just to make sure.”

Cooking instruments, sanitizing bottles, temperatures inside refrigerators and cleaning surfaces all get a look by the county food inspection team…
