Durham Welcomes New Transitional Home for Women Exiting Incarceration, Jubilee Home Expansion to Support Reintegration

The city of Durham is set to welcome a new haven for women emerging from the confines of incarceration, as Jubilee Home unveils its latest project. This initiative, representing a fusion of compassion and practical support, will be inaugurated on Thursday, October 30, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 11 a.m. In line with its men’s home established in 2020, this addition to the Jubilee family seeks to provide more than mere shelter; it offers a platform for reintegration and rehabilitation.

According to an announcement from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS), the women’s home is poised to deliver wraparound services that encompass mental health care, substance use treatment, employment resources, and general wellness. These services are crucial for the women who will call this place home, helping them to heal and rebuild lives worn by the justice system, and often, by life itself. Kelly Crosbie, Director of the Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Use Services, NCDHHS, alongside David Crispell, Executive Director of Jubilee Home, will spearhead the ceremony in Durham County.
