New NC Program to Support Local Residents with Severe Mental Illness After Release from Jail or Prison

On November 3, 2025, First Lady Anna Stein and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) will announce the NC Forensic Assertive Community Treatment Teams (NC FACT) program in Raleigh. The program is designed to support people with severe mental illness who are released from jail or prison in North Carolina.

NC FACT teams will provide mental health care, housing support, job assistance, substance use treatment, and help with daily living. The main goal is to lower repeat offenses and help former inmates adjust to life in the community. The announcement will be held at NCDHHS Headquarters.
