Man convicted of killing his father when he was 13 dies in prison in North Carolina

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A Raleigh man convicted as a teenager of murdering his father died Tuesday morning following a fight in prison, the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections said.

According to NCDAC, 30-year-old David Ruben Green III was seen fighting fellow inmates in his cellblock at Scotland Correctional Institution near Laurinburg just before 7:30 a.m. After the fight was broken up, Green collapsed and was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later.

State officials said Green’s death remains under investigation by law enforcement and the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. No charges have been filed as of Wednesday afternoon…
