SALISBURY, N.C. — Shaw University fell 43-13 to Livingstone College on the road Saturday afternoon at Alumni Memorial Stadium.
The Bears (2-7, 2-5 CIAA) struck first when freshman quarterback Alexander Marsh capped a short 21-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter. The Blue Bears (5-4, 3-3 CIAA) answered with a safety late in the period and then took control with 21 unanswered points in the second quarter, including a 62-yard touchdown pass from Elijah Alexander to Ronald Lindsey and an 18-yard fumble return by Kobe Pringle.
Livingstone extended its lead to 30-6 in the third quarter after defensive end Kenyon Garner scooped up a fumble and returned it 45 yards for a touchdown. Shaw responded when Marsh connected with Antrel Gibson for a six-yard score to make it 30-13, but the Blue Bears added two field goals and a late touchdown pass from Trisitan McClary to Tavion Jackson to seal the victory…
