Wake County approves investing more than $7 million for 16 nonprofit projects

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Sixteen nonprofit projects in Wake County will receive more than $7 million in grants, officials said Monday.

On Monday afternoon, the Wake County Board of Commissioners approved investing the $7 million through the Community Capital Grant Program, which, according to Wake County officials, support capital projects led by nonprofits that address needs across the county.

The largest grant, $1.07 million, was awarded to Families Together, for the reconstruction and expansion of its non-congregate emergency family shelter in Raleigh after it was destroyed during a fire last December, according to county officials…
