‘Unsettling’: Deadly road rage shootings in North Carolina alarm drivers ahead of holiday travel

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — As millions of people hit the road for Thanksgiving, local drivers are on alert after three road rage incidents in the Triangle last week, of which two turned deadly.

David Godwin, a 55-year-old, was shot and killed during a road rage incident on US 64 near Wendell on Friday. Claire Gavin was part of the team that treated him at the hospital, where he died.

“So that was really scary to watch and see when they got brought in,” Gavin said. “It was hard to see firsthand. That could have been me in that situation. So, it’s really scary.”

Investigators believe road rage played a factor in a deadly shooting on Knightdale Blvd that happened Saturday. 39-year-old Corey Hansen was killed. Road rage is also blamed for a shooting on Thursday, but that person survived…
