Raleigh and Wake County Residents Invited to Apply for 911 Training Academy

The Raleigh-Wake Emergency Communications Center (ECC) is accepting applications for its upcoming 911 Training Academy. The application period runs from November 26 to December 17, 2025. The academy will begin on Thursday, February 19, 2026, and will last 12 to 14 weeks. No prior experience is required. The starting salary for new hires is $49,100 per year.

Applicants will complete a multi-step selection process. This includes the CritiCall skills assessment, which tests data entry, typing, spelling, and reading comprehension. Successful candidates will then have a virtual panel interview. Recommended candidates will undergo background and psychological evaluations.

The academy offers hands-on training for 911 call taker and telecommunicator positions. Trainees will learn to handle emergency and non-emergency calls, collect information, and use the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system.
