Residents of 2 homes displaced as 70+ Raleigh fire crews battle back-to-back house fires

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Raleigh fire crews battled back-to-back house fires on Sunday afternoon into Sunday night, officials said.

More than 70 firefighters were involved in both fires, with one in southeast Raleigh soon followed by a large blaze in north Raleigh, according to Raleigh Fire Battalion Chief Jason Patterson.

Both fires displaced residents of the homes, with the second, most serious blaze reported just after 5:30 p.m. at a home in the 6300 block of Lakeland Drive, near Shelley Lake and just off Lead Mine Road, Patterson said…
