Former Raleigh police chief Estella Patterson sworn into new role leading Charlotte-Mecklenburg police

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WJZY) — North Carolina Governor Josh Stein took part in the swearing-in ceremony for former Raleigh police chief Estella Patterson on Friday morning, who is stepping into the same role with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

The ceremony began at 10 a.m. at the Charlotte Police and Fire Training Academy.

Patterson, a longtime law enforcement leader, officially took the helm of Charlotte-Mecklenburg police in front of city officials, officers, community members and invited guests.
