The Raleigh Police Department (RPD) conducted a DWI saturation patrol on Capital Boulevard to enhance road safety. According to the City of Raleigh, the patrol covered the area from I-40 through downtown Raleigh. Over the weekend, officers issued 130 DWI-related charges.
The operation involved multiple law enforcement partners, including the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, neighboring local police departments, and representatives from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). The District Attorney’s Office and the Magistrates’ Office also participated. While the primary focus was identifying impaired drivers, officers were also enforcing other traffic regulations.
The saturation patrol resulted in 10 DWI arrests and 104 traffic stops. Officers also cited three individuals for drug violations, eight for driving with a revoked license (DWLR), and issued 40 speeding charges.
