North Carolina Man Admits To Spraying HIV-Positive Blood Into Eyes Of Hospital Staff

A routine medical treatment descended into chaos at a Raleigh hospital after a patient ripped out his IV and deliberately sprayed his HIV-positive blood into the eyes of two healthcare workers.

Kameron Gilchrist, 25, pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the disturbing March incident at UNC Rex Hospital.

According to court documents, Gilchrist was receiving care for diabetes when he suddenly removed the intravenous line from his arm. Police say he then turned on the staff members—a man and a woman—and “aimed his HIV positive blood at the victims’ eyes.”…
